DPOP x Tribeca 2024
DPOP in June Bloom!
The past week has been a flurry with the TriBeCa Festival in our hometown of NYC. It’s been great to catch up and meet new faces, as well as catch some of the incredible and innovative works being produced.
Recently…
DPOP introduced a new media distribution initiative with Sundance Catalyst this Spring.
In looking at the greatest hurdles threatening a vibrant storytelling landscape, distribution is one of the biggest. For the past several months, the DPOP team has been working on a new networked solution to support films and series in finding their audiences while earning more per transaction for the rights-holder.
More recently, DPOP had the good fortune of attending Evan Shapiro’s Streaming Media NYC conference to further analyze digital media’s past, present, and future. Evan is a media data wizard, and it was a wonderfully in-depth event.
In the social media sphere, DPOP and NEW HERE have now joined Lens Protocol, a decentralized social media platform built for creatives.
Upcoming…
The DPOP team will be landing in Chicago on June 25th to attend IND/EX, the Independent Film Exhibition Conference hosted by the Film Festival Alliance and the Arthouse Convergence.
We’ll be meeting with exhibitors and curators from around the world, as well as to present more on how we’re building toward a more equitable media ecosystem at DPOP.
We’ll also have a DPOP booth on June 27th where attendees can check out some things we’ve been building in the realm of VR, gamified viewing experiences, and generative AI.
To Read…
”To Read” is a new section we’ve introduced to highlight thought-provoking articles and ideas shared amongst the DPOP team. While not an endorsement of the ideas contained within these articles, we hope they spark new thoughts and conversations for you.
Doing the Internet Right by Dougald Hine

The Right to Read by Richard Stallman
Richard Stallman’s short fictional story discusses the dangers of a future where access to and sharing of information is severely restricted by laws, emphasizing the importance of preserving the freedom to read and share knowledge freely.
The Distribution Playbook
This IS an endorsement! Our friends at Kinema have put together this GREAT resource for free, designed for filmmakers, video creators, funders, and co-collaborators to take the lead in their distribution. Great work Christie and team!
